Prior to relocating to Kamloops in 2004, I lived and worked in the Lower Mainland. My work including being a probation officer, foster parent and team leader of a program working with ‘at risk’ youth. It was during this latter time of my career that I found and explored a deeper passion; working with and supporting individuals through their strengths and discovering their inner sense of self and yearnings. In addition to having my own private practice, I am also a faculty member at Thompson Rivers University. Moving to Kamloops has enhanced my life personally, professionally and spiritually. I am so grateful to be a part of this beautiful city and enjoy all of its diversity.
Over the past 13 years I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families with diverse emotional challenges and struggles. Having completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, I am a member of good standing with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors (#4008).
Specializing in working with children, adolescents, adults and families with developmental disabilities, my work is based on compassion, understanding, and healthy choices. I have received extensive training and experience working with individuals who are impacted with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). In addition to facilitating training within the Interior region on FASD to community professionals, I have also presented at several conferences.
Working with couples and families is also a focus of my practice. Utilizing a systemic therapeutic process, my hope is for couples/families to experience awareness and transformational change. I have experience and intensive training with the Satir Institute of the Pacific (SIP); achieving my Level I and Level II certificate. My goal is to continue my learning and training with SIP and become a facilitator in training.
